Be in Tune with Yourself
It’s Valentine’s Day! The one day in the year that love gets attention. Yet, love is something we should pay attention to every day. After all, love isn’t necessarily all romantic there are different kinds. We can feel empathy and compassion for others, including ourselves. Showing up in this heart-centred way helps us to lead and experience the present moment more richly.
Why is that?
Paying attention to our feelings elevates our understanding of the conscious experience.
Emotions are powerful transmitters of information that flow through the body and the mind. Cognition doesn’t work alone. Emotions and intuition are crucial in how we perceive and make decisions. Ignoring or not understanding our emotions can bog us down, affecting our thinking and reactions to situations.
So it’s important to be in tune and nurture the relationship with yourself.
By doing so, you also support your relationship with others and the external world. You can hear your inner voice more clearly and pick up on signals from the body. That insight is key to understanding heart intelligence – the information from your heart and intuition. Knowing your emotional state determines how well you understand yourself and others.
If you’re muddled and don’t know what’s going on with yourself, it’s difficult to regulate your emotions. You won’t be aware of your impacted cognition, the way you’re prone to bias, and slower to think. With an unregulated emotional state, it’s challenging to understand the views of others. Feeling imbalanced impairs our ability to be empathetic. When we can’t do that, we fail to process the views of others. We can get stuck in narrow perspectives influenced by our perception.
So this Valentine’s Day, take some time to be aware of your emotions.
Self-reflect to understand where you might be biased in how you perceive and react to experiences happening in your life. Start by asking yourself how you feel and what you sense. Go forward from there. Remember, everything starts and ends with us. We collaborate, innovate, and respond to opportunities and problems better when we understand our state of being.
